Controller and monitoring

Distillation based on the physical laws of thermodynamics is self-adjusting to sustain stable operation. Many passive design features facilitate stable operation so that the volume of distillate produced does not vary materially for a constant energy input. Large changes in influent temperature or concentration of dissolved solids can temporarily destabilize operation which reduces energy efficiency by reducing distillate flow.

Distillate purity is theoretically never impacted. Internal sensors, monitored continuously serve two purposes.

The main purpose is to proactively adjust operation at the margin to optimize and maintain performance. A secondary purpose is to monitor small trending changes in effluent purity by measuring conductivity continuously.

This provides redundancy to assure safe distillate and informs the need for preventative maintenance to maintain optimum performance and very pure effluent. The LDRM has 65 vertical tubes. The SDRM has 22 vertical tubes approximately half as long.
